Brand new to the Watea series the Watea 88 is a pure one-ski quiver for advanced to expert level skiers who prefer to split time evenly between on and off trail skiing. At 88mm underfoot the Watea 88 certainly has the width to handle crud, crust, and lighter powder days while still retaining the edge to edge quickness needed for strong and clean response on hard packed and groomed snow as well. By sticking to a larger turn radius and a poppy full wood core the Watea 88 is comfortable railing high speed giant slalom style turns with the energy and nimble nature to slam fall line turns in tighter areas like trees or bumps. Based around traditional sandwich sidewall construction, proven over the years to develop the best stability and edge hold for aggressive skiing, combined with Carbon I-Beam, integrated into the core for enhanced stability and control, the Watea 88 has so much edge hold and power it will grip at any speed on any terrain for a stable and controlled feel all over the mountain. To help the 88mm waist perform even better while off piste the Watea 88 gets Freeski Rocker, tip and tail rocker with camber underfoot, to give the ski better flotation and the ability to smear and slide turns as well as making for easier turn initiation all over the mountain. The Watea 88 is also the first Watea ski with the Powder Hull, a reinforced tip that provides better float because the tip can plane above the snow more easily as well as track and turn with less effort. A perfect blend between old quality and modern technology and shaping the Watea 88 is great everyday ski for the aggressive all mountain skier.

  • Sandwich Sidewall Construction - Great Edge Grip, Stability, And Durability
  • Carbon I-Beam - Integrated Into The Core For Added Stability And Power
  • Full Wood Core - Great Pop And Liveliness
  • Powder Hull - Drives Through Snow Like A Boat Hull For Better Float, Tracking, And Turning
  • Freeski Rocker - Tip And Tail Rocker With Camber Creates Great Soft Snow Performance And Easier Turn Initiation Ever

I am Steve. I just got off the Fischer Watea 88. This ski is a little wider than the 84. I kind of like the 84, if you are going to ski on more hard pack conditions and groomers. If you are going to ski a little more out west this would...Read More
